Paths of Glory (1957)

We canโ€™t all be Leeroy Jenkins.

Summary:

Kubrickโ€™s more serious anti-war film. Lots of dialogue in this film with the exception of notable tracking shots for its war scene. It was just okay for me cinematography-wise. Thereโ€™s nothing wrong with this film at all nor was there anything particularly profound. We all know war is terrible and the promotional bureaucracy of ranks, but with mostly dialogue thereโ€™s nothing that should wow you in visuals or ideas. Iโ€™ve watched this film twice now and itโ€™s got that old cinema style of over-explaining, declarative storytelling and front facing group dialogue. A fine film and one you would not regret watching, but it felt more of a play than a film.
