Going back to familiar roots in Texas and New York, Ford provides a fascinating glimpse into this alternate world, story within story. The plot employs the narrative of a book within a film, but the performances and plot are strong enough that you never feel cheated like when characters wake up from a bad dream. When the credits roll, it leaves you with just a lasting shared memory, a feeling all too familiar yet so distant.

A big surprise, a provocative thriller and most importantly a fresh perspective. The story is a bit like True Detective but excellently paced while being genuinely thrilling and wrenching. Tom Ford is more than just the visuals, there is surprisingly a delightful depth to the fashion icon.
