The Matrix (1999)
Hackers know gun-fu.
Presentation:
The Wachowskis gift us one of the best action films of all time due to their expertise in comic book writing and stunt work. Each action sequences feels precise and deliberate presenting comparable martial arts to Chinese films. Despite being under the guise of an action flick, the film is substantial with heavy hitting themes on psychology, religion, AI, determinism, solipsism, society, simulation, and thats to just name a few. This film has tremendous impact on society and even my channel.
Conclusion:
Some will say the trilogy has been ruined. It definitely has from the fourth film, but I actually didn't think the other sequels were as egregious enough to taint the original. It is still a masterpiece in my book, making this one of the best looking action masterpieces that looks just as good today. In fact, I kinda wanna watch it again right now.
